Single crystal growth of LuAlO3-Ti3+ and Al2O3-Ti3+ by the vertical Bridgman technique and their optical properties

Abstract
A selective self-seeding process has been used to grow optical quality LuAlO3-Ti3+ single crystals in the vertical Bridgman configuration. Thermal conditions of melt preparation and crystal cooling are discussed in respect to their affecting the solid phase structure. Conventional Bridgman scheme has been used to grow Al2O3-Ti3+.
