Wigner crystallization of two-dimensional electron systems on solid H2-films

Abstract
We have investigated the transport properties of two-dimensional electron systems (2DES) on quench-condensed hydrogen films for various electron densities up to ne = 1.5x10 cm-2. In the range of the plasma parameter [MATH] from 40 to 180 we have observed a behavior [MATH] of the electron mobility µ with a distinct transition from a smaller slope for Γ<125 to a steeper one for Γ>125. This signature is interpreted as the Wigner crystallization of the 2DES.
