Abstract
An acoustical and mechanical study on SiO2 aerogels was investigated. In our paper we present the measurements of the bulk modulus for different pressures (from Patm to 100 bar) and of the transmitted and reflected coefficients of samples for frequencies lower than 15 kHz. These experiments confirm the relation between the Young modulus and the mass density, and show that the bulk modulus is linear with pressure.
