Abstract
We present a new digital readout system based on a commercially available chip in which the charge from an ion chamber is directly integrated on a capacitor and digitised. The resulting digital code is then sent via an optic fibre to the data acquisition system outside the experimental area. The system is capable of measuring very high quality XAFS data, is far cheaper than the normal readout method, is robust and offers high noise immunity.
