In this paper, the stress-strain response and the stress-electric displacement behavior of hard PZT4 are studied under both uniaxial quasi-static and dynamic compressive loading. Experiments show that the behavior of hard PZT4 is significantly rate-sensitive in the stress-rate range of 1 to 4106 MPa/s. The non-linear response of the mechanical behavior is analyzed on the basis of the 90 domain switching. The switching stress increases with increasing stress rate.
