Transformation Stability of Thermo-Elastic Martensite in CANTiM SMA During Thermo-Mechanical Cycling

The properties of CANTiM SMA after thermal cycling under constraint were studied by DSC, X-ray diffraction and TEM. Both As and Ms increase after thermal cycling. The transformation heat exchange for martensitic transformation decreases as cycling proceeds. The results of constrained and unconstrained SMA showed that there is no observable difference in thermo- elastic martensitic transformation when the maximum bending strain is kept below 1%. New variants of martensite were induced inside the original martensite, and the degree of order of martensite decreases after cycling.
