The SAXS investigations of PE/ABS blends

Abstract
Blends of polyethylene and noncrystallizable ABS copolymer have been investigated by using small angle X-ray scattering. The relative constancy of the interlamellar spacing and the degree crystallinity as the concentration of the noncrystallizble component increased to 50 % by weight has been interpreted as the result of rejection of the latter from the interlamellar regions. The presence of ABS copolymer in the interfibrillar regions has a little effect on the supermolecular structure of polyethylene.
